Since its founding over 104 years ago in June, 1909, the International District Energy Association (IDEA) has been "Informing, Connecting and Advancing" the global district energy industry. With headquarters located near Boston, MA and governed by a 21-member Board of Directors, today the IDEA represents the interests of over 1800 IDEA members from 26 different countries who are involved in the operation, design, construction, and optimization of district heating, district cooling, and combined heat and power (CHP) systems in cities, communities and on campuses and owned and operated by public and private entities, municipalities, hospitals, military bases and airports.
